It's Only Words

Words. The easiest thing to dismiss unless you’re a writer. Writers are obsessed with words and looking for the absolutely right one to exactly communicate a thought, feeling or mood is like being a literary Sherlock Holmes. So what happens when a designer, obsessed with all things visual, is immersed in the world of words? Anamika, one of our wonderful graphic designers offers a snapshot of a transformative moment in an intense encounter with words:

I was meeting my friend in Mumbai and he told me he was going for an event organised by Words tell Stories at Barking Deer, Lower Parel. All I wanted to do was spend time with him so I went along without knowing anything about anything. The event was open to the public so people could come to together to share and listen to poetry. Anyone and everyone was welcome to share their poem. It was a small audience and the poetry was lovely. So far away from the loud music, dancing and saturday night crowd. I was just a part of the audience but felt so connected to the poems that by the end I was moved to tears. The poetry was from the heart and created with passion. I was able to connect to that zone instantly being a designer. Listening to poems, with chilled beer and good company set the mood for my mini vacation to Mumbai in the middle of all the buzz. Everyone should have a poetry fix once in a while - a great way to spend any evening. For more information check out their facebook page @wordstellstories.
