That’s how Intense Ocean – the Colour of the Year has been described. Just reading that, even without seeing the colour, I can feel it. And the resultant sense of calm, of a spiritual cleansing is so immediate, it’s magical. Which means actually looking at it would lead to a perpetual Zen state. Seriously though, this colour is the colour of the Heart chakra. Deconstructed, it means it is the colour of love, of compassion. Its influence allows you to travel outside of yourself and connect with the world around you, with people around you. It is the colour of expansion and acceptance, bringing people together, filling an environment with peace. It is a mature, adult colour, the colour of fertility and growth, renewal and nourishment. Try and recall how calming it is to walk bare feet on soft grass – you want to do it forever. Even the imagery fills you with a sense of well being . Physically, this beautiful, intense colour is connected to a strong heart, healthy circulation and immunity, a strong upper body and a lung capacity.
I’m not sure how much we appreciate the impact of colour. I think, surrounded by various glorious shades as we are, we don’t think of them much. Like breathing. But like breathing exercises make us conscious of our lungs and air and oxygen, I think it does us good not just to stop and smell the roses but take in their colour as well – consciously. For now, the colour that’s on my mind is Intense Ocean. And I do believe I feel a Zen state of being coming on. ☺
