Toile pronounced ‘twaal’ could be a soap opera of life of sorts. Romantic and idyllic scenes are woven into it littered with the tiniest details. You find yourself drawn into the fairytale loveliness following a tale unfold. And of course toile is immediately comforting the way muffins are having followed us from old world living rooms to current times. Except they are losing their pedestrian muffin quality. And in 2009, in fact, featured in a big way at the Edinburgh Art Festival to become quite literally the fabric the city framed as it was in the city's iconic department store - Jenners, displayed on taxis and billboards. This expressive and "talkative" style was able to tell the city's story and depict its most intimate character.
