A stray hairclip, stationery, lipstick tubes… sometimes the little things are the biggest bug for the neat freak. While most people tend to hide everything away in a clutter draw, we say, flaunt it with a little creativity using waste items craft ideas. Here are three simple steps to upcycle old tin cans into eco-friendly storage containers.
• 2 used tin cans
• 1 ball of jute rope
• A handful of embroidered mirrors
• A quick-stick adhesive like Fevicol
• A pair of scissors
Method for eco friendly bottles
Wash the cans thoroughly. Wipe dry and sandpaper any sharp edges.
Dot glue along the bottom edge of the can, carefully wrapping the jute rope upwards along the curved surface.
Next comes the fun part – decorating! Once again using the glue gun, stick embroidered mirrors in a line along the top and bottom edges of the can. You could even design different patterns using the mirrors. Alternatively, layer the jute rope base with braided or dyed jute in zigzag or spiral patterns.
